Crickets Investigation

Background Info:Crickets Only live to be about 1 year.Crickets only enjoy the darkness more because when they are in the heat, when the chirp,it makes them tired faster and that is why they are more active at night.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Question:Do crickets like vegetables or fruits,or both?

This Week In Science #6

This week in science I classified jelly beans and made the jelly beans in groups. We had to ask questions about the jelly beans such as what color was the jelly beans, did it have spots.I had to make the list and my other team members had to make the graph. The questions I asked the questions and my team members had to guess what jelly bean matched the description. We also had to create a poster afterward and present it to the class.

This week in science #5

This week in science I learned about we learned about crickets and observed them in a container. We also had to look up animals behaviors on youtube.Everybody had  a different animal behavior. We observed the crickets and saw that they constantly kept chirping. It was also brought to attention that the crickets were scared and kept on hiding in the piece of loose leaf.THey don't eat unless there is no one around. They're very timid and don't like people shaking up the container.they die really easily and often do not come out of the loose leaf paper when one dies.                                                                                                                     The crickets are somewhat fascinating but there are still some things that I am unsure of.Why do they constantly chirp when it is not even night? It is bright in the classroom and they still chirp.I thought that crickets only chirp at night. My hypothesis is that the crickets might have restless leg syndrome. They don't seem to stop chirping unless they are afraid and hide.

This week in science #4

This week in science we all worked in groups.David gave us a chart on taking data.We had to gather data and we had to put it on chart paper.I learned that Brassica rapa grows faster with less water. When my group watered cup A with least amount of water,it grew the highest and the plant, cup C,that was watered the most was dead when we saw it.Cup B was watered with 10 drops of water  and it is still but it looks like it is dying.Brassica rapa really likes to be watered with very little water.Cup A was watered with 5 drops of water and it is really flourishing. My group also started the Plant investigation #2 and I had to do the experimental setup and the background information.Me and my group are almost done with the investigation.

This week in science #3

This week in science we continued to investigate Brassica rapa and we investigated its growth. We saw that it really is a fast growing plant.Since we made a hypothesis that if we put different amount of water in each cup, then there will be different heights. The plant that got the most drops of water got the shortest height. The plant that got the least amount of water got the tallest height. It was strange that it was completely different from what we thought.                                                                                                                                                                                   I learned that Brassica rapa is indeed a fast growing plant. It has only been 5 days and it already has grown 5 centimeters.Everybody had different hypothesis',so everybody had different results in there plants.

This week in science #2

This week in science I learned about Brassica Rapa. Brassica rapa is a very rare weed.It is rare because it is genetically bread to have very unique characteristics. It was founded in the 18th century and was said cure cancer but was not scientifically proven correct. It was also said to poison animals such as pigs, sheep, and bovine.I learned that this plant is very rare that it cost a lot of money to buy only a couple of seeds even though it is just a weed.Me and my class are now going to plant the Brassica rapa seeds and watch how they grow.It is said to grow the fastest out of any plant.

I learned a lot about Brassica rapa this week in science.I learned that Brassica rapa is very rare because it is bread by different kinds of seed.It is the fastest growing seed and can grow in 24 days.I also learned about the special traits and what kind of plant Brassica rapa is.I will learn more as my class investigates.Even though it is just a weed it is a very cool plant.
